Robert A was born in 1857 in Iowa City, Wright, Iowa, USA. Robert A's father was *Jonathan C Mitchell and his mother was Emily H Stephenson. His paternal grandparents were *James Allison Mitchell and *Margaret Esther Collom; his maternal grandparents were *John Stephenson and *Cynthia Cloyd. He had eight brothers and five sisters, named Hester J, James S, Tillman Flavel, David Lennox, Lyman Holac, Ive R, Joe R, Edgar C, *Cornelia Elizabeth, Mary A, Cynthiann D, Saraeanna Ida and Lillie Finney. He was the seventh youngest of the fourteen children. He had a half-brother named Halae F. He died at the age of 42 on May 22nd, 1899.-
