Alan was born in 1186 in Galloway, Wigtownshire, , Scotland.1 Alan's father was Roland DeGalloway and his mother was Elena DeMorville. His paternal grandparents were *Uchtred Galloway and *Gunnild Dunbar; his maternal grandparents were *Richard De Morville and *Avice De Lancaster. He had a brother and a sister, named Thomas and Ada. He was the oldest of the three children. He died at the age of 48 in 1234 in Kirkcudbright, Kirkcudbrightshire, , Scotland.1 -
