Anderson was born on April 12th, 1851. Anderson's father was *Andrew Jackson Bartholomew and his mother was *Margaret Scott. His paternal grandparents were *Joseph Bartholomew and *Margaret Merchants; his maternal grandparents were *FNU Scott and *UNK. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named James, *William Scott, Thomas Corwin, John G, Isaac Newton, Lewis H, John S, Jane Elizabeth, Samantha G, Delphine and Henrietta. He was the sixth oldest of the twelve children.-
