Michele was born on June 26th, 1931.  Michele's father was Giuseppe Lazzara and his mother was Francesca Licata.  His paternal grandparents were Salvatore Lazzara and Cristina Sinagra; his maternal grandparents were Antonio Licata and Anna Aletto. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Salvatore, Antonino, Assunta, Cristina, Anna, Carmela and Maria.
