Patrick Shannon

Patrick was born on December 23rd, 1873 in Omagh No 1, Tyr, Ireland.¹ Patrick's father was Henry Shannon and his mother is Mary McGolrick. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Barney, Henry, James, Joseph, Francis "Frank", Cathrine, Ann and Mary. He was the seventh oldest of the nine children. Patrick is no longer alive.

General Notes
- It was reported that Patrick, while living in Exerter, NH with sisters Catherine and Ann, became ill with stomach problems and wanted to return to Ireland to die. Being too sick to sick to make the trip alone his brother Barney returned to Ireland with him. Much to the suprise of of all, Patrick recovers and some years later returned for a second time to America. His sister Catherine wrote to Minnie and Barney that Patrick again was becoming sick and must return to Ireland. It is reported that Barney said to Patrick that "If I take you back again you go back and die this time you S.O.B." My mother, Minnie Shannon Moon, told me that it worked the second time because a few years later they heard that Uncle Pat had died in Ireland. Joe Moon.
  
  As an aside to the above- "Celtic Spru or Sprue Disease, the "Irish Disease" is an intestinal disorder that doesn't allow the body to digest gluten found in most grains, but not in rice and potatoes, which might explain why Patrick recovered after returning to Ireland and his normal diet of potatoes. I don't know if any of you people may have this disorder, but if you do, here is some indication that the family might have this in the line. Joe Moon.
