Samuel was born in 1720 in St Marys, St Mary's, Maryland, United States.1   Samuel's father was John Abell and his mother was Mary Usher.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Abell and Susannah Ann Gardiner; his maternal grandparents were Edward Fisher and Mrs Fisher?. He had three brothers named Samuel  l, Edward and Cuthbert.  He was the third oldest of the four children. He had five half-brothers named Samuel, Enoch Booth, Edward, John Howell and Abell Sr.  He died at the age of 75 on June 1st, 1795 in Rolling Fork, Washington, Kentucky, United States.2
