John was born in 1680 in St Marys, St Mary's, Maryland, United States.1   John's father was Samuel Abell and his mother was Susannah Ann Gardiner.  His paternal grandparents were Richard Abell and Joannah Ann Abell ?. He had eight half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Francis, Robert, Cuthbert, James, Ignatius, Samuel, Richard H, William, Mary, Winifred and Elizabeth.  He died at the age of 66 on November 9th, 1746 in St Marys, St Mary's, Maryland, United States.2
