David Schalk van der Merwe 
David Schalk was born on April 29th, 1905. David Schalk's father was Johannes Joachimus van der Merwe and his mother was Catharina Christina van Blerk (van der Merwe). His maternal grandparents were Simon Petrus van Blerk and Jacomina Hendrina Louw (van Blerk). He had a brother and three sisters, named Simon Petrus, Jacomina Hendrina, Hendrika Jacoba and Catharina Christina. He was the oldest of the five children.-
