Jan Barend van Blerk 
Jan Barend was born on August 12th, 1887 in Cradock. Jan Barend's father was Barend Johannes Vorster van Blerk and his mother was Alida Goudina Erasmus. His paternal grandparents were Petrus Jacobus van Blerk and Magdalena Zacharia Vorster; his maternal grandparents were Philippus Lodwicus Erasmus and Elizabeth Hendrina (Erasmus). He had two brothers and two sisters, named Phillipus Lodewicus, Barend, Elizabeth Hendrina Merryfield and Rachel Dorothea. He was the third oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 69 on June 8th, 1957.-
