Christina Catharina was born on February 24th, 1799 in Stellenbosch. Christina Catharina's father was Simon Petrus van Blerk and her mother was Anna Margaretha Bremicker (van Blerk). Her paternal grandparents were Nicolaas van Blerk and Catharina Maria Magetski; her maternal grandparents were Johann Christian Bremicker and Jacoba Petronella Vastenouw (Bremicker). She had a brother and a sister, named Jacobus Rogier and Anna Hendrika. She was the second oldest of the three children. She had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Nicolaas, Johannes Petrus, Johanna Margaretha, Christina Marthina, Catharina Margaretha and Johanna Petronella.-
