Cecilia Magdelena was born in Graaff Reinet. Cecilia Magdelena's father was Petrus Jacobus van Blerk and her mother was Magdalena Zacharia Vorster. Her paternal grandparents were Jan Barend van Blerk and Maria Catharina van den Berg (van Blerk); her maternal grandparents were Barend Johannes Vorster and Johanna Christina Booysen (Vorster). She had four brothers and four sisters, named Petrus Jacobus, Barend Johannes Vorster, Hendrik Stephanus, Jan Vorster, Anna Francina Johanna, Johanna Christina, Gertruida Christina and Hester Magdalena. She had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Jan Barend, Francois Petrus, Maria Catharina, Susanna Cathrina and Susanna Catharina Barendina.-
