Bastiaan Rozier William was born on October 1st, 1863. Bastiaan Rozier William's father was Bastiaan Pieter Everhadus van Blerk and his mother was Anna Catharina Phillippina Soekoe (van Blerk). His paternal grandparents were Rogier Bernhadus van Blerk and Martha Basina Dorothea van de Kaap; his maternal grandparents were Johannes Paulas Soekoe and Maria Elizabeth Magdalena Smit (Soekoe). He had four brothers and two sisters, named Rogier Bernhadus, Johannes Paulus, Bastiaan Pieter Everhadus, Charles Carl, Maria Elizabeth Magdalena and Bastina Dorothea. Also suspected and assumed to be the same Sebastian WIlliam van Blerk, born 1863, who sailed to Southampton on the Llandaff Castle Ship in 1936 with his family. Concrete evidence remains to be found to confirm this, however, all other info tends to show the connection.
