William was born on September 1st, 1834 in Burston, Norfolk.  William's father was William TURNER and his mother was Rebekah WOODROW.  His maternal grandparents were Samuel WOODROW and Elizabeth GIBBS. He had three brothers and three sisters, named John, Elijah, Alfred, Caroline, Emma and Clara.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.
