Elizabeth was born in 1878 in St Helens, Lancashire.  Elizabeth's father was John GALLAGHER and her mother was Mary MCMILLAN.  Her paternal grandparents were John GALLACHER and Agnes; her maternal grandparents were Archibald MCMILLAN and Mary SMITH. She had three brothers and five sisters, named John, Ephraim, Charles, Agnes, Mary, Rose A, Catherine and Helen.  She was the youngest of the nine children.
