Alexander was born about 1699 in East Sutton, Kent.  Alexander's father was Matthew BONNY and his mother was Sarah MEDCALF.  His paternal grandparents were Alexander BONNY and Martha BUTCHER. He had two brothers and a sister, named Matthew, Thomas and Dorothy.  He was the second oldest of the four children.
