Mark was born in 1807.  Mark's father was Mark Lott and his mother was Delilah Jones.  His paternal grandparents were John Aaron Lott III and Sarah Sallie Lightfoot. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Daniel, Joel, John, Elizabeth, Penelope, Sarah, Mary and Frances.  He was the second youngest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 56 in 1863.
