Robert was born in 1638.  Robert's father was Robert Bowman II and his mother was Sarah Orme.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Bowman I and Janet Smith. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Gilbert, William, Robert, William, John, Mary and Mary.  He died at the age of 67 in 1705.
