Simon Dow

Simon was born on January 11th, 1762. Simon's father was Jeremiah Dow and his mother was Abiah Brown. His paternal grandfather was Simon Dow and his paternal grandmother is Mary Lancaster; his maternal grandparents are Thomas Brown and Dorcas Farming. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Jeremiah, Richard, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Ruth and Elizabeth. He died at the age of 78 in July 1840.

General Notes
- Simon was paid for three months of military service in 1781. He eluded all Dow genealogists until a letter from his grandson was found in 1923 in the miscellaneous memoranda of Edgar R. Dow. He was a farmer and influential citizen of Barnstead, New Hampshire. He is the ancestor of the principal Dow family of Barnstead, a town whose vital records are in very poor shape.
