John Dow

John was born on September 30th, 1753. John's father was Samuel Dow and his mother was Mary Batchelder. His paternal grandparents were Deacon Samuel Dow and Mary Page; his maternal grandparents are Thomas Batchelder and Sarah Tuck. He had a brother and four sisters, named Samuel, Abigail, Mary, Sarah and Comfort. He was the third oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 75 on February 13th, 1829.

General Notes
- John always lived in Hampton. He signed the Association Test and served five days at the defense of Portsmouth. He was always active in town affairs, such as selectman from 1812 to 1813, on an important church committee in 1797, a committee to disentangle the town finances in 1803 and in 1809 on a committee to arrange the town treatment of paupers.
