Edward John was born on April 28th, 1879 in Townsville.  Edward John's father was Wilhelm Christian Edward Stock and his mother was Margaret Anderson.  His paternal grandparents are Christian Stock and Wilhelmenia unknown; his maternal grandparents are John Anderson and Agnes Dockerty. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Ernest John, Alfred Norman, Clarence James, Cecil Ivan, Bertha Doretta and Agnes Enid Olivia.  He was the oldest of the seven children.  He died in Townsville.
