Martha was born on March 11th, 1688 in Gotha and her baptism took place there on March 11th, 1688.  Martha's father was Christoph Schwabhaeuser and her mother was Anna Eckardt.  Her paternal grandparents were Andreas Schwabhaeuser and Anna Elisabeth Eckardt; her maternal grandparents were Peter Eckardt and Anna Nuernberg. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Johann, Johann, Maria, Anna and Anna.  She was the fifth oldest of the six children.
