Martha was born in 1701 in Gotha and her baptism took place there on October 23rd, 1701.  Martha's father was Johann Christoph Brandenburg and her mother was Maria Magdalena Seyfarth.  Her paternal grandparents were Hiskias Brandenburg and Magdalena Meuseman; her maternal grandparents were Johann Michael Seyfarth and <Unknown>. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Johann, Jacob, Engel, Barbara and Catharina.  She was the second oldest of the six children.
