Jacob was born in 1710 and his baptism took place on August 28th, 1710 in Gotha.  Jacob's father was Johann Christoph Brandenburg and his mother was Maria Magdalena Seyfarth.  His paternal grandparents were Hiskias Brandenburg and Magdalena Meuseman; his maternal grandparents were Johann Michael Seyfarth and <Unknown>. He had a brother and four sisters, named Johann, Martha, Engel, Barbara and Catharina.  He was the fourth oldest of the six children.
