Jabez was born in 1770 in , Randolph, Nc.  Jabez's father was Seymour YORK and his mother was Sylvanus L. ALDRIDGE.  His paternal grandfather was Jeremiah Jr YORK and his paternal grandmother is Jeremiah YORK. He had nine brothers and seven sisters, named John, Jeremiah Sr (Of Semore), Isaac H, Shubel (Of Semore Sr), Semore Jr., Jabez (Of Semore Sr), Jeremiah, Shubal, John, Sarah [John], Dorcas, Martha, Martha, Sarah, Dorcas and Tabitha.  He died at the age of 83 in 1853.
