Jan was born on June 17th, 1813 in Amsterdam, Holland.  Jan's father was Carel ROUW and his mother was Anna Elisabeth Reijneke.  His paternal grandparents were Carel ROUW and Seytje Koerse; his maternal grandparents are Jan Poulus Reijneke and Antje van Doesburg. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Carel, Jan, Jan Lourens Koerse, Willem, Carlina, Annas, Karolina and Karolina.  He was the third oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 51 on September 23rd, 1864 in Oldebroek, Holland.  His burial was on September 26th, 1864 in Wezep, Holland.
