Franciscus was born on April 26th, 1793 in Lubbeek.  Franciscus' father was Arnoldus Ons and his mother was Maria Lemmens.  His paternal grandparents were Guilielmus  Ons and Maria De Ruijter. He had eight brothers and two sisters, named Jacobus, Guilielmus , Joannes Josephus, Joannes, Joannes Georgius, Joannes Josephus, Petrus Jacobus, Henricus, Maria-Catharina and Maria-Theresia.  He was the youngest of the eleven children.
