James was born in year 1836 in St Mawgan, Conwall, England. James' father was James Leverton and his mother was Elizabeth Draydon. His paternal grandparents were John Leverton and Sarah Cockin; his. He was the oldest of four children. He had three brothers named Richard, <Unknown> and <Unknown>. He died, at the age of 57 years, on March 31st, 1893 in Odessa, Ontario, Canada.
James and Kezia were married in January 1857 in Thurlow, Hastings, Ontario, Canada. They had three sons and three daughters, named Elizabeth, John, Sarah, Frances, Thomas and Walter.
