William was born in year 1753 in Suffolk, Barrow and was baptised on August 26th, 1753. William's father was William Death and his mother was Ann Bird. His maternal grandparents were William Bird and Ann. He was the oldest of five children. He had four sisters named Ann, Elizabeth, Mary and Elizabeth.
