Joan was born in December 1752 in St Enoder, Cornwall and was baptised on December 26th, 1752.  Joan's father was Steven Bullock and her mother was Frances Vivian.  Her paternal grandparents were Edmund Bullock and Mary Vivian; her maternal grandparents were  Ralph Vivian and  Joan Rogers.  She was the third of eight children.  She had four brothers and three sisters, named Stephen, Ralph, James, <Unknown>, Ann, Jane and Elizabeth.

William and Joan were married in a religious ceremony on October 6th, 1774 in St Eval, Cornwall.They had no children.
