Joane was born in August 1644 in St Enoder, Cornwall and was baptised on September 1st, 1644. Joane's father was Thomas Bullock and her mother was Dorothy Pearce. Her paternal grandparents were Richard Bullock and Agnes; her maternal grandparents were John Pearce and Grace. She was the second of six children. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, John, Joan, Dorothie and Ann.
