István was born on August 20th, 1862 in Erdőhorváti Zemplén.1  István's father was Antal Zombory and his mother was Terézia Bessenyey.  His paternal grandparents were István Zombory and Zsuzsanna Bánffy. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Géza, Béla, Anna and Gizella.  He died at the age of 68 on February 18th, 1931 in Kecskemét.2
