Amanda was born in 1893.  Amanda's father was Hermann Thiering and her mother was Kate Wieck.  Her paternal grandparents were Fred Thiering and Abel Wehde. She had a brother and a sister, named Harry and Meta.  She was the second oldest of the three children.
