Karolina's father was János Zámoly and her mother was Jozefin Hosbély.  Her paternal grandparents were Ignác Zámoly and Júlia Rozsán; her maternal grandparents were György Hospély and Mária Czinkant. She had four brothers and a sister, named Károly, Béla, Anna, Etelka and Ilona.  She was the second youngest of the six children. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named János, Ferenc, Mária and Erzsébet.
