Lourens Smit 
Lourens was born on July 8th, 1893 in Graft.1 Lourens' father was Valentinus Maria Smit and his mother was Grietje Duinmeijer. His paternal grandfather was Joseph Smit. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Jozef Bernardus, Jacobus Anthonius, Cornelis Jacobus, Willem Jozef, Anna Maria, Catharina Maria and Maria Margaretha. He was the second oldest of the eight children.
