Isabel was born in Buenos Aires.  Isabel's father was Miguel Gomez de La Puerta (Saravia) and her mother was Beatriz Luiz Figueroa (Hernandez).  Her paternal grandparents were Antón Gomez de (Saravia) and Catalina de  (La Puerta); her maternal grandparents were Benito Luiz Figueroa (Pavia) and Magdalena Hernandez (de Los Reyes). She had four brothers and five sisters, named Benito, Miguel, Juan, Martín, María Isabel, María, Ursula, Beatriz and Lucia.
