Manuela was born on April 13th, 1700 in Bilbao -Abando - Albia.  Manuela's father was Joan Leguina (Gallarza) and her mother was Concepcion Castillo (Zenagorta).  Her paternal grandparents were Pedro Leguina (Amarika) and Cathalina Gallarza (Cegama). She had two brothers and three sisters, named Pedro, Antonio, Angela, Maria and Magdalena.  She was the oldest of the six children.
