Ramon was born on August 7th, 1824 in Santos Espiritu Y Pedro, Tarrasa, Barcelona, Spain.1   Ramon's father was Felip Neri Barba (Amorosa) and his mother was Francisca Costa.  His paternal grandparents were Felip Neri Barba (Gibert) and Esperanza Amoros; his maternal grandparents were Francisco Costa and Theresa Canals. He had two brothers named Pau and Joseph.  He was the youngest of the three children.
