Pau was born on December 22nd, 1810 in Santos Espiritu Y Pedro, Tarrasa, Barcelona, Spain.1   Pau's father was Felip Neri Barba (Amorosa) and his mother was Francisca Costa.  His paternal grandparents were Felip Neri Barba (Gibert) and Esperanza Amoros; his maternal grandparents were Francisco Costa and Theresa Canals. He had two brothers named Joseph and Ramon.  He was the oldest of the three children.
