LT. William was born on March 8th, 1761 in Augusta County, VA.  LT. William's father was CAPT. William Grant (SERVED USA- REVOLUTIONARY WAR - BATTLE OF KINGS MTN - Battle of '96) and his mother was Keturah (Kitturah).  His paternal grandfather was CAPT John Grant (SERVED USA- REVOLUTIONARY WAR) and his paternal grandmother is Hester Foote (Grant).  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 90 on August 28th, 1851 in Anderson District of SC.  His burial was in buried on the Oconee-Anderson County line across the road fromm his old homesite within view of Coneross Creek, l mile north of  Townville, SC.
