John was born in 1742.  John's father was Charles Christian Jr.  and his mother was Mary Leake (Christian).  His paternal grandparents were Charles Christian Snr. and Elizabeth Hunt (Christian). He had six brothers and four sisters, named 2nd LT Elijah, Charles, The Ghost, The Shadow, William, Walter, George, Elizabeth, Mary, Judith and Mourning.  He was the second oldest of the eleven children. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named William, Lucy and Judith.  He died at the age of 81 on September 26th, 1823.
