George T was born in 1879 in Jarrow, Durham.  George T's father was Thomas Robinson and his mother was Mary Ann Thompson.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Robinson and Arabella Matson. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Ernest, Samuel Christopher Ernest, James T, John F, Arthur, Arabella Mary and Margaret E.  He was the seventh oldest of the eight children.
