George was born in 1845 in Benwell, Newcastle Upon Tyne.  George's father was Thomas Henderson and his mother was Mary Bulmer. He had two brothers and a sister, named John Andrew, Daniel and Ann.  He was the third oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 61 in 1906.
