Ann was born in 1836 in St John's, Newcastle Upon Tyne.  Ann's father was Thomas Henderson and her mother was Mary Bulmer. She had three brothers named Daniel, George and John Andrew.  She was the oldest of the four children.  She died at the age of 65 in 1901 in Pelton, Durham.
