Ellen, known as Ellen, was born on April 1st, 1885.  Ellen's father was Andrew J MADDEN and her mother was Helen (Elena) SANDS.  Her paternal grandparents were James MADDEN and Margaret GLEASON. She had four brothers and four sisters, named John, Andrew, Thomas, Frank, Beatrice, Mary, Kate and Ethel.  She was the oldest of the nine children.
