William L B was born on December 4th, 1852 in Tippah, Mississippi, USA. William L B's father was Brightwell Rather Elder and his mother was Lucinda Elviney Gammel. His maternal grandparents were Stephen Pate Gammel and Mary Ann Runnels. He had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Columbus McNeer, William Harrison Hendricks, James Buchanan, Robert Dixie, Mary Ann, Sarah Ann, Rosa Alva and Lula Ann. He is the fourth oldest of the ten children.-
