James Laverne Byrd
James Laverne was born on June 11th, 1933 in Lamar, Marshall, Mississippi, USA.1 James Laverne's father was Samuel Issac "Bogie" Byrd and his mother was Lottie Bell Skelton. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Given Byrd and Martha Virginia Skelton; his maternal grandfather was John Thomas Skelton and his maternal grandmother is Josie Stafford. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named Forest Warner, Demp Gene, John Kittrell, Louis Welton, Thomas William, Larry, Charles Jessup, Lottie Virginia and Connie Ruth. He was the fourth oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 83 on January 24th, 2017 in Lamar, Marshall, Mississippi, USA. James Byrd 83, passed Tuesday Jannuary 24, 2017 at home in Lamar, MS. He was born June 11, 1933 in Lamar MS to Sam Byrd and Lottie Skelton Byrd. He wa a member of New Hope Baptist and a Contractor.
Services will be on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 2:00pm at the Holly Springs Funeral Home with a visitation at the funeral home starting at 12:00 until service time. Burial will be at the
John K. Skelton Cemetary in Lamar MS.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie Byrd, a son Mickey Byrd (Lisa), two daughters, Pamela Fletcher and Jonne Collins all of Lamar, MS. Three brothers, Thomas Byrd, Lamar, MS. Larry Byrd, Iuka, MS. and Charles Byrd, Lamar, MS. 12 Grandchildren, and 30 Great Grandchikdren.
He was preceded in death by his Grandchild Kendell Byrd and Great Grandchildren Angel Baker and Megan Fletcher.
