Christopher was born in 1828 in Ripon, Yorkshire, England.1   Christopher's father was Phillip Turner and his mother was Ellen (Unknown).  He had three brothers and six sisters, named John, George, Thomas, Catharine, Mary, Elizabeth, Hannah, Ellen and Sarah.  He was the third oldest of the ten children.
