William Petty

William was born on March 24th, 1826 in Shipton By Thorpe, Yorkshire, England.¹ William's father was David Petty and his mother was Ann Adamson. His paternal grandparents were David Petty and Mary Raper. He had six brothers and five sisters, named Thomas, John, George, Robert, Henry, Charles, Mary, Hannah, Elizabeth, Hannah and Jane. He was the fifth oldest of the twelve children.
