William Petty

William was born in 1797 in Shipton By Thorpe, Yorkshire, England.¹ William's father was David Petty and his mother was Mary Raper. His paternal grandparents were David Petty and Elizabeth Grainger. He had three brothers and three sisters, named David, John, Mathew, Betty, Anne and Anne. He was the sixth oldest of the seven children.
