Catherine was born about 1821 in Bethnal Green, Middlesex.1   Catherine's father was Walter Macklin and her mother was Elizabeth or Sarah Littlejohn. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Walter, Cornelius, George, Reuben, Sarah, Elizabeth, Amelia and Louisa.  She was the second oldest of the nine children.  She died about February 1885 in West Ham, Essex.2
